help no heat and its cold :(

Ok. I am posting this for my dad. He has a 2000 Beetle GLS TDI.

About a month ago the blower motor just stopped working. You cannot get any air to blow out of the vents in the cabin. Also when pushed, the AC light does not come on behind the AC switch (dont know if these are related)

Anyway we live in Ohio and he drives it to work every morning. And not only is the car cab cold, he cant defrost the winshield.

We already found the fuse for the blower (I assume the little fan blade icon with 4 blades on the card is the blower) and checked that fuse and its fine. I also read it could be one of the 3 30amp fuses on top of the battery so I checked those, all are fine.

What else can we check to see if its the problem? The only other problem with the car is sometimes the Check Engine light comes on, but we had the codes ran and its a faulty coolent temp sensor, again dont know if that would be related or not.

Please give me some ideas to check, I heard there is a fan control module under the battery, is that something to check?

Thanks for reading and please let me know!

~Mike

Re: help no heat and its cold :(

Check the relay under the battery and double check the fuses on top of the battery - they may appear OK but any corossion buggers them. Also get that
coolant temp sensor fixed - it could telling the heater (thru the ECU) the coolant is not hot enough to start providing heat.
