Blower fan does not turn on
Recently i decided to try and clean up the old 305 , "which became a mistake," when i tried the AC and heat and the fan never went on. Although i could hear the hissing noise from a vacuum leak or soemthing "i have always heard this since i got the car last year". I am assuming i got the resistor wet and that this is the problem. Recently i went to test and see if it decided to work and i went to jiggle the resistor plug and the fan turned on! I am 99% sure this is the problem and now all i need to know is where i can get this and how much it is?

Re: Blower fan does not turn on
Check the condition of the plug itself first. Most often, this is where you have problems.
Aside from that, you can get the resistor bank at your local parts place (insist on AC/Delco here, getting 'cheap' always costs more in the long run), and the plug if necessary can come from a junkyard car.

Re: Blower fan does not turn on
The fan itself will die often too. Try wacking it, gently, with a hammer while the switch is set to high to see if it comes on....

Re: Blower fan does not turn on
this is why im afraid to clean my engine, i know it CAN be done but granted how old everything is, i dont want to disturb an old gasket or anything.

Re: Blower fan does not turn on
yeah i didnt want to clean my engine at first too but it was a real mess so i went ahead and did it and as i said before thats when my blower stopped working. Also i had a valve cover gasket leak and the oil would burn and smoke when it hit the hot engine. This got worse after i washed everything. "havent got around to replacing the gasket yet". So i guess the moral of the story is dont touch the engine, or at least be extremely careful where you spray water.
