Re: Radio question?
You should check with a dealer to see what year range each radio fits

Re: Radio question?
You'd be better off from a standpoint of money spent and aggravation to just replace it with a nice aftermarket unit...they make them to fit the hole, they will supply you with a jumper harness that allows you to plug the new unit directly into the existing wiring, etc..done and done.
If you are dead set on a factory type unit for some reason, I've noticed some for that generation of Lumina w/CD pretty cheap on eBay... As to whether it play a burn disc, I have no clue. The one in my '97 will...

Re: Radio question?
Or you could buy one of those cheap FM modulator CD changers for the trunk...
It "broadcasts" a signal on a set FM frequency from the changer, you just tune to that freq on your stereo and you hear what the changer is playing...all you have to run is power to the unit and a single cord w/remote up front so you can switch track/disc... We had one in the wife's car...Sony...nice unit. Cheap.

Re: Radio question?
Now i was wondering if i could stick a cd deck from a 95-99 lumina in my 93?? I have seen pictures on ebay and they have the same wire inputs, but there is one differance with the new 95 ones. Ill give you a link to check the differance.
New radio: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Monte-Carlo-Lumin...QQcmdZViewItem Old radio: http://cgi.ebay.ca/92-94-OLDSMOBILE-...QQcmdZViewItem See the only diff is that the 95 one has this odd long port off the the one side? VS. the 93 which has none? I have no idea what that is? FYI: the old radio is my exact modle i have right now. Last edited by Tommio 3.1; 10-21-2007 at 06:43 PM. |

Re: Radio question?
The only real difference I can think of is the later models have SCV, speed controlled volume, the volume increases with speed to cover road noise...so it has to have some kind of connection tothe VSS or speedo, that may be what it is.

Re: Radio question?
Well then that makes sense. I guess i dont have such a part in my 93 lumina. But now i wonder if the newer radio will still work in my 93?
OOO Update!! I just found a site where this guy took the exact radio that i would put in my lumina into a 88-89 Iroc Camero. Heres the link: http://www.iroczone.com/projcddeck01.html Now if he can stick it into a camero i should have no problem! Thanks Very Much!!! Last edited by Tommio 3.1; 10-22-2007 at 11:04 AM. |
