Needing to know how to wire a factory tach in a 1965 Malibu
I am building a 1965 chevelle ss and was wondering if anyone knew how to wire the tach. It already had the tach in the dash, but there are two mounting studs on the back and I don't know which stud gets wired to what. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Re: Needing to know how to wire a factory tach in a 1965 Malibu
Let's assume the tach has a chassis ground and the backlight wires are separate.
Generally, one wire (stud) goes to the negative terminal on the ignition coil. The other goes to a fused positive wire that turns on with the ignition key. Do not use the positive wire on the ignition coil as a power source. I am not sure which is which. Are there any markings on the studs? |
