Re: Help, century shuts off even with cps raplcaed!

Look for a 4 wire connector coming off the front of the transmission near the vacuum modulator and unplug it. This plug is for the TCC solenoid that controls the torque converter lock-up, and could be the cause of your issues. Since your car's transmission isn't electronic, you can leave it unplugged until you can afford to get the TCC solenoid fixed (which involves dropping the trans down out of the cradle to get the side cover off). The only drawbacks to leaving it unhooked is a slight drop in highway mileage on a long trip.

Okay so i looked everywhere and could not find the vacuum modulator anywhere near the transmission. Is it pluged into the transmission? also by front of the transmission what side is that? im just a little ignorant and dont know what you mean by that. Also i found a plug with 4 little circles and 2 of them where functional and the others where just blocked off ,is that the tcc connector? I unplgeed that one,but it was still the same. Please help me out.

IF you are standing on the drivers side of the car by the front tire, looking down at the engine/trans, there should be a 4 wire square plug on the front of the trans between it and the radiator. This is the plug you're looking for.

Here's a link to A-Z's repair info showing the plug locations for both the 3 spd auto and the overdrive auto offered in you car.

http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm

Just click on the picture for your trans to enlarge it so you can see where the plug is located.

since unplugging the TCC harness didn't help, it's not you issue. The next things to check are for vacuum leaks, and the IAC valve in the throttle body for carbon deposits. The IAC varies the amount of air let in the engine at idle and part throttle. When they get stuck, the car will stall when you let off the throttle.
