Amp isnt getting power

I have a 1 ferad capacitor hooked up to my 1000 watt kenwood amp. My capacitor reads 12 volts which is good but then when i hook it up to my amp it doesnt turn on. I cant get any power to it no matter what, ive tried it with all the speakers/rca cables pluggin in and also with them unplugged. My fuse inst blown but i replaced it anyways and it didnt do anything. I looked in the amp and nothing looks or smells fried. Does anyone know what it could be?

Re: Amp isnt getting power

did you try or did you have power to the amp before installing the capacitor? i run an alpine mrp-f240 and one day i accidently let red(+) touch black(-) and i lost power to the amp, i thought my amp was fried but it was the ground that came from the sparks i guess. try checking the conections or try to power the amp directly without the cap.

Re: Amp isnt getting power

It worked in my other car with and without the capacitor. I put it into my new car and it also worked both ways but suddenly stopped. I thought it was just the ground wire bc it had came undone once before, but then i saw that the capacitor was on. From there i tried many variations like with/without the speakers, rca cables, capacitor, etc. Also i tried another amp that i have that also wouldnt work. This made me believe that it had to be a ground or power supply problem but then it doesnt make sence bc my capacitor has power. I'm stumped

Re: Amp isnt getting power

sounds like the auto turn-on wire isn't connected.

Re: Amp isnt getting power

yeah sounds like it, try using a volt meter to test it.
