New here

I am new to this forum as well as new to the performance upgrades to cars. I have put together engines in the past with my father. Anyway, I digress. I have a 1997 Cavalier 2.2L with some high miles. I do plan to rebuild the engine as the parts are on the way now. I have ordered a short ram intake in the mean time. Is there any aspects or concerns that I should be aware of before installing this upgrade? Should the installation be sound and straight forward? Also, is there any "weird" stuff I should expect after the install? Please advise as I do value all input on this....
