starting issues

went out to start my bravada this morning, and it just won't stay started. i can hear the fuel pump start, it turns over and acts like its gonna run like normal for 2-3 sec. then just cuts out. pumping gas doesn't do anything. sort of at a loss as to what is wrong. replaced the fuel filter 2 years ago. oil pressure is good (although desperately need to change the oil). full tank of gas, didn't use it at all yesterday. last driven was in a hard rain tuesday night.

thanks
josh

/edit
i changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump had plenty of pressure...

Re: starting issues

You're gonna need to put a gauge on your fuel injection, it's hard to judge 40psi(too low) against a normal 60psi.
A fuel injection pressure test kit is available at most auto parts stores and currently on sale at Harbor Freight.
Here's where you test it.

Re: starting issues

my wife brought to my attention that the security light has been on all last week. on research, that makes sense, cause it looks to start normally, then things just get "cut" off. so now i think its an issue with the passlock system. i've had suggestions to put the key in aux position for 10 min, but last night i did that and drained the battery, retrying after having jumpers on it. any different suggestions on how to reset the passlock system? or even disable it ?

thanks
josh

Re: starting issues

had the same problem couple years back. After repeated trips to the
dealer and about 1200.00 It turned out to be the ign switch so try that first

Re: starting issues

forgot to respond with the solution. it was the passkey system. found out that to reset the system, just put the key in the on position without turning it all the way to on for 10 min. worked like a charm. thx again
