99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
Hello,
I just purchased a '99 Tahoe LT. The door/seat belt/key-in/lights on warning buzzer is not working. I'm wondering if it could cause other weird problems. Problem 1, the automatic (dayrunning) lights don't light the dashboard, but the dashboard lights come on when I manually turn on the lights. Is this normal behavior. Problem 2, The radio button lights don't come on, and can't be adjusted with the dimmer. Could either of these problems be related to the buzzer not working? Is there a light that might need to be replaced for the buttons to be illuminated? Could anyone tell me where it is? Can anyone please tell me or send me a picture of where the buzzer/chime is, so I can check to see if it's even connected? Could any other problems be related to the buzzer not working? Finally, does anyone know the part number to order from GMPartsOnline.com to replace, if necessary? Also, is there a fuse box inside the cabin of the Tahoe or is the only fuse box under the hood? Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I already love my Tahoe and want it to last a long long time. Best Regards |

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
yes there is a fuse box in the cab. It is on the drivers side, on the side of the dash, where the door closes to it.

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
Problem #1 is a normal condition. Problem #2 is most likely the lights in the radio and needs the radio to come out and be repaired. My 98 C/K manual does not give instructions on how to do this. The "audible warning control module" is located on the right side of the convenience center which is located on the firewall just forward of the park brake pedal. If you get it out it probably has a part # on it.

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
Kremer210: I can't find a fuse block in the cab, just the one under the hood. I wonder if there were different cabin layouts for the '99. Thanks for the response.
777stickman: I found the block that buzzer/chime plugs into. The block is just to the right of the parking brake, and the chime (which was marked "chime") is a vertical row of eight pins on the far right of the block. My chime was missing completely. So far, I haven't been able to find a part number or a replacement chime on GMPartsDirect.com. I'll hit a couple local junk yards to see if I can find anything. I may try to find two, so I can take one apart to see what systems it ties into on the block. Thanks for the help. |

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
On the left side of the dash is a small pop open door. It has to be there. Look some more. Open the drivers door and look on the side of the dash.

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
I found it. I didn't realize it was right beside the door. I found a buzzer at a salvage yard, but it didn't fix any of the problems except alerting for no seatbelt.

Re: 99 Tahoe key-in buzzer not working
There should be a fuse for the buzzer in the panel on the driver side of the dash because I have removed it before to shut up the buzzer while I had the door open.
