2000 Mustang GT no brake lights wont shift out of park

I have had this problem off and on for months .. sometimes everything is fine, then without warning the car won't shift out of park, when this happens I also have no brake lights.. has anyone experienced this problem, or have a solution

Thanks
Dave

Check for loose connections at the brake switch, located on the brake pedal. Brake lights and shifter plunger will not activate without a signal from the brake pedal switch

Yes you replaced the brake switch, but you didn't check the terminals on the electrical connector.. if you want to fix this, you need a wiring diagram to test the whole circuit.

Re: 2000 Mustang GT no brake lights wont shift out of park

Before replacing the brake switch I checked for voltage to the switch itself, I hooked a voltmeter on each side of the clip and got 12v... Right now the car is operating normally but who knows for how long, it just started working on its own again a few days ago.. when I replaced the brake switch I even tried jumping across the connection to see if I could get the brake lights to work ... but nothing changed even though vollage was present

thanks
dave

Probably an intermittent loose connection somewhere.. like I said, a wiring diagram will definitely help.
