99 Gramd Am 3.4L HO Overheating

I replaced the Intake Manifold Gaskets in this car a few weeks ago and a couple days later he brang it to me saying it overheated on him, so i checked the coolant level and it was low so i figured there was probably a air pocket in the system and sucked all the coolant out of the bottle. aWell yesterday I replaced the brakes and rotors and noticed the LOW COOLANT LIGHT was on so I checked the level and the overflow bottle was empty, refilled it and let it run for a little while and noticed coolant started pouring out of the overflow tube on the bottle, so I shut it off and let it cool down and rechecked it today after work and it was empty again so I refilled it tightened the cap down really good and ran the engine at about 2k rpms then I heard a gurgle and the LOW COOLANT LIGHT came on so I shut it off and checked the coolant level again and it was empty again, I refilled it and ran it again around 2k rpms for about 5 minutes, and nothing happened this time so I think the gurgle was a the system releasing the air and sucking the coolant into the system, but I do not get why before it would start pouring the coolant out of the overflow tube.

The Cap is very hard to get on and off do you guys think the problem might be the cap oir just air in the system or something else any suggestions/ideas are welcome.

Joe

Re: 99 Gramd Am 3.4L HO Overheating

SOunds like the gulp was due to an air pocket.
A lot of times the heater core gets air trapped ,
and it will over heat and push the coolant out the overflow.

These caps are sometimes a bear to get off and on.
I'd suspect it's been cross threaded at point.
The caps are cheap, I'd give it some more time to see if it blows out any more coolant, if it does might try replacing it.

Does it run fine other then that ??

Yes it runs very good.
Well I will report back if I get any other issues with it.
