101.000 miles on the cobalt.

how do you tune these things up ?

trying to know so i can help a disabled relative who relies on this car for his job.

There's not much to do on them. Assuming it's a 2.2L, automatic, this is what I would do at over 100Kmi if the maintenance history was unknown:

1) Spark plug changeout.
2) Engine coolant change.
3) Drop the pan, clean, change the filter on the 4T45E trans.
4) Suck out and refill the brake master cylinder reservoir a cpl of times.
5) Spray clean the MAF sensor with some MAF or electronics spray cleaner.
6) Spray clean the throttle body with carb/throttle body/intake cleaner. Don't try to actuate the throttle plate with the key in the ignition. You WILL mess up the throttle by wire system.
