96 Bonneville shudder

My 96 Bonneville has a shudder when the engine wants to maintain highway speeds in OD. Sometimes it will do it upon acceleration. It only begins to show symptoms after about 30 or 40 miles. If I drive without using OD I can feather the accelerator on slight inclines when it normally happens and prevent the shudder. I'm thinking it's something to do with the torque converter. I have been told by fairly reliable sources to change the plug wires, so I did, and it still does it. Then I changed plugs, the plugs were very white in color, still no difference. Next reliable source told me to clean MAS and change O2 sensors. I haven't changed the MAS or O2 sensors because I'm still thinking it is a tranny issue and am wasting time and money trying other fixes. When the shudder occurs at highway speeds in OD, I can pull it back into DRIVE and it immediately stops the shudder.

What do you think, transmission or other issues?

Thanks

Re: 96 Bonneville shudder

I have a 94 and when I bought this beast it was doing that. They thought something was wrong with the transmission. I got under it and replaced the vaccum hoses and it fixed it for less that $3.00

Always worth a shot.

I have a 94 bonnie had the same type of problem. You could try getting a new rail with injectors from the wreckers. Worked for me! Good luck!!
