gas tank removal

it seems i have to replace the fuel sending unit on my 2000 montana because of a fluctuating gas gauge. is there anyone out there who have done this procedure themselves? if so can you give me step by step instructions please (things to expect/avoid) thanks

Run the tank dry or as low as possible. Every little bit helps. Disconnect the 3 fuel lines coming down from the front of the tank as well as the filler neck and vent hoses from the rear. Stack up 2x4 pieces towards the front and rear of the tank to help support the tank, then remove the bolts holding the 3 straps on. Remove the straps as well. Then lower the tank one board from the front, then from the rear. Keep going until it's on the ground. Putting a piece of carpet under everything will allow you to easily slide out the tank without scuffing it up. Then just remove the remaining hoses from the pump and twist off the ring. A piece of strap metal with a couple of strategically placed bolts stuck through it makes quick work of the ring. Just reverse the process to put it back up.

Muzzleman: I'm thinking about dropping the gas tank on a 2001 Montana, and am wondering how it went for you. I want to try to clean the contacts on the fuel sensor rather than replacing it. What did you end up doing? Any tips to pass along?
