Help!! Can't fill up the car!!
I have a 1998 malibu that up until now has run fine. Well I went to fill up the tank this morning and for some reason it would'nt allow me to... As soon as I started pumping the fuel the pump would click off...It seems that it would only fill up the tube leading to the gas tank, then it would pour all over the side of the car.. I'm not sure what could cause this nor do I know of a way to solve this issue.
Any help or suggestions would be welcome.. Thanks, Tim |

Re: Help!! Can't fill up the car!!
every fuel tank has a vent tube, because if they didn't , this would happen. in your case the vent tube runs up along with the filler neck (smaller tube...) check this first...

Thanks for the info..
What do you mean by checking it? Check to see that it is clear of any blockages? Thanks, Tim |

Re: Help!! Can't fill up the car!!
I guess, even though it is steel, I believe there is a small section of rubber connecting it to the tank, that might have a kink in it, a long shot but still something. In the mean time, if you fill the tank slowly, the moster might not try to jump out and get you...

Re: Help!! Can't fill up the car!!
Sometimes if you put the fuel pump too in the gas tank it causes that when you go fill up put the fuel pump about half way in (make sure when doing this that the gas goes in the fuel tank not on the floor). And the fuel pump i talking about is the one of the gasoline station.
