Re: 4T45-E Transmission

Not sure what this thread has to do with a 4T45-E transmission, but I think the 3.4L says 3400 on the top, and the 3.5L says 3500.

3.5L does not say 3500 on the manifold, the 3500 is a different engine.

Look on the emission tag on the radiator support cover, it will give engine size. The new Mailbu starting with 04 is not a 3400.

Re: 4T45-E Transmission

I would say yes, but if you are going to order something call a recycle yard and ask if it will fit.

If you are thinking of putting a 4T45E out of a 3.5 Malibu into a 3400 Malibu, it is not the same transmission as far as electronics go. The 04 up with the 3.5 has electric shift on the throttle. Lot of changes inside the transmission to achieve this.

Re: 4T45-E Transmission

Yup, the 3.5L switched over to throttle by wire as opposed to the older 3.1 and 3.4's cable acutated throttle body, so there are electronics differences between the 4T40E and newer 4T45E transaxle. The first of the 3.5's were still setup to flow engine coolant through the intake manifold. But AFAIK, the newer 3.5's do not pass coolant through the IM. That's a great thing.
