2000 Monte Carlo SS Tranny issue

Hey Folks!

Well, another problem has come up. Today on the drive to work I noticed my Monte didn't want to stay in Drive (D), and it automatically dropped to 3rd. I didn't think much of it at the time...

On the way home, however, I was paying close attention to it. I drive mainly highway to and from work - average speed of 75 (posted is 70). I noticed that when I completely took my foot off the accelerator, it would drop into "Drive". But the moment I touched the gas, it would immediately go back into 3rd. When I got on some back roads I played with it again....same results. At one point, I did manage to get it to "chug" while in "Drive".

Any suggestions on this one???

Yep, had the engine light but as suspected it was for an 02 sensor (rear sensor is not in the car). Other than that, nothing...
