Had a little fun.....Stage 3 SRT4 vs Camaro SS

Decided to throw the nitrous kit back on the camaro for alittle fun on the weekend. Jetted up to the 150 shot(great for trap speed, terrible for street tires). Met up with a buddy of mine for alittle fun run. Don't know much about the car other than it has stage 3 upgrades(don't know what all that consists of, spec cluch, and nitto drag radials). My car has slp loudmouth/nitrous and stock 17" street tires.

I did a quick little burnout just to clean the tires off and he lit the little nittos up. At the drop of the hand we launch. I get very little tire spin and he jumps out a car on me. I see I have to go to the gas, so I lay into it, boiling the street tires off. Its a fairly controlled spin, so I pat the nitrous on and off(handheld button) and finally get to lay into it completely. I make up the car and pull by him. I pull maybe a half a car to a car ahead and hold him off through second. After we both go into third, the srt starts pulling on me(shocking to me, since the camaro has never really been pulled like that on the big end with the gas). At the 1/4 mark, we're nose to nose with him pulling by me alittle past it.

All in all, I was extremely impressed with the neon....the last time I had the gas on the car, it went bottom 12s at 118mph on street tires. I would say that neon had to be trapping in the 120s to pull me like that up top. I tried to get another race with him with me on a set of et streets, but he denied. I highly doubt he'll make up the distance with the camaro on a good set of slicks, but no doubt he'll be hauling it down on the big end.

We had a great time and that srt4 was no joke......He was kinda cocky texting me on the way home, so I'll just give him a taste of the truck next time.

Haha very nice. From what I have read Stage 3 from Mopar is supposed to be a low 12 second car.

Yup, those little Sarties are made to scoot man. Still the Stage 3 is no low 12 second car. He has more toys then that for sure.

^^ You are correct. I remembered wrong. I looked it up and it is more like a mid 12.

Thanks man!
I'm been adding more goodies to the truck Much larger cam, higher stall converter, and now went to a two stage nitrous setup(first stage nozzle/second stage plate). I've been fighting to get everything ready in time for the lsx shootout in Memphis this month, and finally got done with the install. If this motor holds out through that weekend, its coming out in Dec and a fully built/forged low compression 370 is going back in with the upgraded sts turbo system on it and a small shot of gas for the launch. I'm going for big numbers in 08!!!!

As far as the neon, there is definately more than he's letting out on his setup. My car is a consistent 12.40 car even blowing the street tires off, and for him to pull me up top like that is just wrong! I may have to dig deeper on this one. Like I said though, he's getting the truck this next time around. Hopefully I can get it to the track this weekend to get some shake down passes before the shootout.

Anyway, good to be back on the board and good to see some of you old schoolers are still lurking around!

I went from the TR224 to a Comp 235/239 598/598 114.....I really like the mid/high range pull of this cam, and its much more nitrous friendly swapping from a 112 to a 114. I removed the fuddle 3800 and went back down to a Fuddle truck performance 3200........Not quite as high as I would like with the larger cam, but keeps me very streetable. The 3800 just couldn't take the weight of the truck and the heat of the summer. It just wasn't fun to drive around in traffic.
