Unhappy Please Help, Low Idle, Loss of Power Occasional Stalling, Even When Driving

I own a 2006 Wrangler SE 4 Cyl. 6 speed manual, 32000 miles, w/ occasional trail riding. Ever since iI bought the vehicle new, I've been having an issue and it's happening more and more often. Occasionally when stopped the idle will drop down to around 200 rpms, if I give it a little gas and hold it, it goes up but then starts to go back down, even with my foot still on the gas. It's even gotten to the point where I can be driving, at any speed, and it will start to loose power and slow down. I can down shift, put it in neutral even, and it still looses power, sometimes even stalls. I've almost gotten into several accidents on the highway because it will all of a sudden slow down at an alarming rate. Every time I bring it to the dealership, they tell me that nothing is wrong and they can't fix something if they don't see it happening. I'm in desperate need for some help, especially since my warranty is up in 4000 miles.

First, you did right by taking it to the dealer, now there is documentation that a problem exists, even after warrenty if this issue is not resolved you can take it back to have it repaired under a warrenty claim. Sounds like a possible fuel issue ie. weak pump or restricted flow. The dealer should be able to check fuel pressure, but make sure that they are not just testing it in the shop. A problem like this needs to be set-up with the guage and driven, putting the engine under load. They maybe trying to "brush you off" for the simple fact that your warrenty is almost up. Be a stick in the mud, force them to fix it. Its their job!! If no luck try another dealer, they are not all the same.

I also have a 2006 Wrangler 4cyl 6speed. It has done this to me once and it almost freaked me out. Nothing suprises me anymore with this vehicle. Its been a huge headache from the word GO or was it from the word SIGN HERE. Becareful with your brake lines mine had a manufactures defect that just went out without any warning and there is a TSB on the steering damper and control arm.

Re: Please Help, Low Idle, Loss of Power Occasional Stalling, Even When Driving

Thanks for the help. About a week after I posted this, my wrangler lost all engine power, I couldn't get the car up past 50 mph and the took forever to hit, nevermind trying to climb a hill. I brought it to the dealership and obviously they couldn't deny that there was a problem. It turns out that my cat was clogged, how on earth that happened to a vehicle with 32000 miles on it, I have no idea. Anyways, they fixed it under warranty and now it runs perfect.
