Problem with 98 Sable duratec 3.0

Helping a friend with their ride and running out of patience, hopefully someone can help...

They have a 98 Sable 3.0 DOHC that acts like it is out of time. It has spark, has fuel (good pressure). It was overfilled with oil (2+ qts) right before it died. What sensors (cam position, crank position ect..) could cause this. Checked voltages and ohm readings for ignition system all OK per manuals.
It sounds like it wants to fire for a second and then quits firing and cranks slowly for a minute (is this the Battery Saver???).

The only other thing that has happened that I know of was the alternator pulley seized for a second and then broke free (found no reason for seize when I pulled it), but the alternator tested fine at AutoZone. Still getting the battery light flashing with fully charged battery and new cables. Could this be causing or helping to cause, the starting issues

Any help or insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
