92 Grand Caravan 3.3 AC Problem

92 caravan started blowing warm air out of vents maybe as of about 1week ago. Compressor in van is original. System was retrofitted to 134a about 5 years ago. My mechanic did it and i don't believe he replaced any parts. The only thing he did was put the adapters on schrader valves. Also about 2 summers ago i lost all my freon they determined that it was the low side schrader valve which was leaking so they just replaced that and has been fine since until now. Compressor sounds like it is engaging AC fan goes on but i am not getting cool air out of the vents it is coming out about 80 degrees. I have gauges and checked pressures with ac on full blast the low side is hanging out about 30 and high side is sticking around 200. Any ideas what it could be?

Re: 92 Grand Caravan 3.3 AC Problem

Someone told me that those reading sound normal and systems seems to be functioning normally so is it possible that the heater core is energized and there is a blend door problem. I was wondering where the blend door would be located any ideas?

Might be the expansion valve if the compressor and pressure check out ok.

Re: 92 Grand Caravan 3.3 AC Problem

I have been watching and playing with the ac very closely and i notice that when i run the front ac by itself i only get a few degrees below the outside temperature but when i turn on my rear ac both the front and back ac comes out very cold. So this is what i have been doing and have yet had a problem with the ac. what would cause the front ac to only work with the back ac on?

Re: 92 Grand Caravan 3.3 AC Problem

Kinda sounds like the front evap fan isn't sucking the cool air away from it and is frosting up ??
Your ex valve would show different pressures if it was bad usually a low suction.

My GF's 2000 caravan compressor has been making a loud rotary noise sometimes that pulls the engine down I'm runing a little high on the psi at 250 and 40 so I drain a little from the hi side, but it still makes the noise, and not all the time. I';m wondering if it doesn't do it when driving down the hiway and we just don't feel it ?? Or is there a kick out switch that shuts it down when starting away from a stop sign ??

Re: 92 Grand Caravan 3.3 AC Problem

Sorry for delay was on vacation The ac fan under hood is working perfectly. so i can't figure out what it could be. It is nothing really critical because it works perfect when i run the front ac with the rear ac on but does not work with front ac by itself. My only concern is am i damaging or clogging anything up or making it worse by doing it like this?
