What Alternator do I have
How dO i find out what alt. I have it either 105 or 140. is there a code in the glove box to tell me what it is. If so does anyone have that code to tell me.

Out of my '98 C/K manual: KG9=140 amp K60=100 amp K68=105 amp The code should be listed in the glove box placard. Otherwise call a Chevy dealer with your VIN and they will tell you what it came with from the factory.

Sorry to chime in here, but my 1998 K1500, with a 5.7L
does not have any of those 3 codes in the VIN. Mine is a K19. What alternator is THAT? |

If you clean off the alternator the amperage should be etched on the housing...along with some other numbers and such
