Door Sealing Problems
I have a problem with my two front doors sealing. It only occurs when I reach speeds of 60 MPH and above. Its really loud and annoying, and I found out that Im not the only one with this problem. If anyone else is having this problem or knows how to fix it, please reply.

Re: Door Sealing Problems
I was reading the Trailblazer forum and 2 people have both used the window vents on all four doors and said the wind noise goes away! This may also solve your problem. I'm going to try the vent shades on my 2005 Envoy.

I tried the AVS brand stick on vent shades. They showed a marginal improvement at best. I would not recommend them. I checked another consumer forum regarding vehicle parts and the AVS vent shades were rated very low and unreliable. Shame on me for not doing that to begin with! (I'm beginning to think there are people using this forum that like to see themselves in print and offer very little help in solving legimate problems.) Be cautious when asking for help. Some may steer you in the wrong direction and then laugh about it!

Re: Door Sealing Problems
The dealer I bought my TB from, 'adjusted' (bent) the door frame tops for a tighter fit & filled in gaps around the top corners of the rear door window weatherstrip with black sealer. This reduced the wind noise some. The additions of 'AVS' stick on vent shades helped quite a bit more. On a ten scale, I'd say my wind noise went from an 8 to a 3 with these mods. AVS are not the best visors going. I got mine inexpensively and they happened to work for my application. It seems as if Jhinz57 didn't do his/her homework, apparently paid too much for them and has not stopped whinning since.

I'm not whining about the cost. I can afford them. (They were $37.00 and change if that matters.) I'm concerned that people are using this forum to steer others in the wrong direction. Maybe even intentionally in some cases. I hope I didn't hit on a sore subject. That was not my intention. In my e-mail response I did say that I did not check the consumer reports on AVS as I should have done to begin with. Mea culpa. |

Re: Door Sealing Problems
No harm done jhinz57. It was not my intention over on the trailblazer board to 'plug' AVS. It just happend to be a product I purchased that worked for me. This proves once again that there is no singe fix for the trail/voy wind noise problem.

Re: Door Sealing Problems
I had the same issue with my Envoy and the dealer did as rodeo02 stated and bent the door frames. It was the only thing that fixed the problem.

Re: Door Sealing Problems
Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but you know how it goes. You start a new one, and you get the typical "use the search button" response.
Anyways, the wind noise some of you are talking about, is it coming from the door seal itself, or from the window opening. I don't see how the vent shades can reduce wind noise if it's coming from the door seal itself. The issue I'm having is with my wife's '06 SLT. It is coming from the door seal, and it only happens when there is a strong cross wind. With a tail wind, quiet as can be, head wind is a little louder, but that is to be expected with a head wind. But the gusts of cross winds make it extremely loud. Let say a cross wind is coming from right to left, it's the left door that will make the noise. Like there is a vacuum sucking the door outwards on the top. Is there a TSB regarding this issue? Other than this issue, only other problem I'm having is the ticking noise under the dash. The GMC dealer across the street from the dealer I work at doesn't have the best reputation in my book. One of our sales managers took his '05 Yukon to them for an oil change and rotate. Ended up staying there for a week, while they decided to upsell all kinds of warranty work, which there was nothing wrong with in the first place. I think there were 5 additional repairs they did, all referring to different TSBs, all stating that the customer complains of such and such, which he never did. The dealer I bought the truck from is about an hour away from me, and they are the only ones I really trust, but I can't make it out there during the week.

Re: Door Sealing Problems
John, the front door wind noise concern is definately a door sealing issue. Only thing I can figure with the vent visors is, they disturb air flow enough to cause a noise buffer of sorts, or possibly they force the doors shut tighter from air flow/pressure. Just a few guesses. I don't get the cross-wind deal, but our trailblazer rarely sees speeds over ~65mph.

Re: Door Sealing Problems
I had the same problem and I just rolled the window down and put my knee against the door panel and give it a jerk in (bending the fram in and no more wind noise problem .It does work try it but don't over due it and bend or break the window frame.
