Engine shakes at idle
1992 Accord ex 2.2 Engine Automatic 192,000 miles. The timing belt broke and I had my garage replace all the belts and waterpump etc., The car ran well before the timing belt broke. Now that the new timing belt has been replaced I have no compression in the # 2 cylinder. Is this engine an interference engine? I didn't think that it was but I read many different views on this. Did I bend a valve or valves? My garage can't figure it out. The car runs well at 20+ miles per hour but on idle or park shakes like crazy. Any help will be appreciated.

That sounds like it clipped a valve...if it can overcome the compression loss as the revs climb and will smooth out, unlike a totally dead hole that you feel at any speed.
Gates timing belt application guide shows 1992 SOHC 2.2 as an interference motor. Start shopping for a rebuilt head, sorry. I'd say it's on them, sounds like they rotated the crank without bringing the valves out of the way or had the cam timing a few teeth off and started it....bent a valve...

I would agree that you have a bent valve but it may not be because the shop did anything wrong except to test the compression after they replaced the belts. The damage probably was already done. Just breaking a timing belt will sometimes do it. If a valve is open when it breaks, the camshaft stops turning immediately and the crankshaft doesn't. So the piston comes up and hits the valve.

Dammit. I read it wrong...sorry guys.
The collision occured as the motor spun after breaking the belt... Now I feel stupid

I want to thank all of you for the quick response. I decided not to pull the head because of the cost and also the pistons have over 190,000 miles and probably will go next. So I decided to look for a newer car.

I don't know the last time the belt was changed. I purchased the car with 115K. I figure since it was not an interference engine,when it broke I would change it.
