stupid question?

If the engine on a JGC 5.2 V8 with auto tranny is seized, will it not move if the truck is pushed forwards??

The engine and tranny are attached, so once put in neutral or drive should the engine turn since it is locked up with the tranny?

Im still trying to get this seized engine to move, its only been sitting 9 months and Ive heard of people turning them over after a few years of sitting. I have also heard of some folks heating up oil, pulling off the head and pouring the hot oil in the cylinders. Any thoughts on the above question???

Re: stupid question?

I would put some oil in the spark plug holes then use a big breaker bar (or maybee a bar with a pipe to make it longer) and try to turn it over.

Re: stupid question?

Try releasing the parking brake, an automatic should roll when in Neutral, they do not "lock in gear" like a standard shift.

Re: stupid question?

I have tried to use a socket on my breaker bar and I cant figure out the size of the headbolt on the crankshaft pulley. I have a metric set and I use 32mm, 30mm is too small. Anyone know what size I should be using?

Re: stupid question?

I havent seen mine but alot of times there is a 1/2" square in the middle for the bar. If not try 31mm if 32 is too big and 30mm to small or it might be SAE.

Re: stupid question?

Have you taking all the spark plugs out of the engine and tried turning it over?

Iif you still cannot get the engine to turn over by hand after removing the plugs, spray some penetrating oil (recommend PB BLASTER) into each of the spark plug holes and let it soak in for awhile over night should do it.
