Viscous Coupler issues? 95 JGC 5.2L

I just bought the JGC Laredo 5.2l quadratrack 4x4 yesterday, everything was fine ran great. My wife started driving it around today, and when she came home she tells me theres a new thumping sound when she's turning. While near full lock when turning at a slow speed I get a thump that makes the whole truck bounce. Turning both ways R/L, and in D/R. As I drove it around more and at higher speeds (5-10mph) while turning the frontend sounded like it was going to rip out from under the truck and the rear tires started to chirp, like I was trying to spin them, but I was only at 1/8-1/4 throttle, barely pressing the gas. It seemed to get worse as the truck drove longer, louder noises at speed and a more agressive thump when slow. Going straight its fine except for a slight pull to the right. I checked the position of the TC its in allwheel. I moved the lever from allwheel to neutral and back but no luck it still makes the noises. Does this sound like the viscous coupler? Thank you.

Try removing the front drive shaft. If the symptom goes away it is the Coupler.

Yes, it is your VC.
I have the same thing but not near as bad as you make it out to be.
Here is a link to the replacement of your VC.

You can find new VC's on Ebay for OK prices($400) but in a shop you will probably get charged about $1400 or more....

Did I read somewhere you could do this without taking off the TC? Seems like it would be a real pain if you didn't take it off. Does this VC issue get worse over time, my VC is bad but I rarely ever experience it because I don't drive that far for long periods. Can it get worse though? I'm trying to put this off as long as I can.

It does get worse as it gets older. You can change it w/o dropping the case, but it's a pain. I took my quad trac out and replaced it with a select trac. best thing you can do for it. no more visc problems and much more durable case. it will drive better this winter because the visc acts up when it gets hot. when hot your jeep is constintly in 4 wh drive. on dry pavement this will eventually wear on the tranny as well.
