carb problem on a p1500 250 straight six

I have a 1972 p1500 (curb side van) with a 250 L1six the problem is the carb.I replaced the manifold gasket because of vacuum leaks and blow by .I rebuilt the carb and to my surprise it over flowed with gas ,so I opened the float bowl a number of times, finely noticed the little clip that holds the needle to the float was preventing the needle to seat proper .did work after but now I'm getting flooding ,(allot) If someone knows a way to fix ,or has been through this and did something like changing up to a different carb or something .I'm up for anything .Thanks
