Question 91 camaro dies once in gear. has been yard riden?

This 91 has 140k on it and is in bad need of a tune up. Anyways I'll handle that but i would love to know why it starts strong and dies once it is in gear. I will replace the tranny fluid and keep checking your responses but i wish i knew if something else could be causing that.
It also has a problem with random missfire after about 2000 rpm. My first thought was to replace the coil, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. However if there is another way to fix that problem please let me know before i spend all my money. Any help will be appriciated and step by step instructions would be perfect. Thank you to all who read this thread. (specs: 91' TBI V8, 305, 700R4 automatic)

Moving this to the F-Bodies sub forum. There you should be able to get some good answers to help you.
