Angry 92 camaro fuel pump what a pain in the butt

man i bought a camaro that wasnt getting any fuel anywhere so i figured the fuel pump is dead so i bought that and a filter plus a bunch more stuff. and i started working on it today and after like 6 hours i still dont have the tank out i tried to wrestle it and everything else but i just cant get the filler side out. anyone got any suggestions.

and one more thing my car has 245 50 16 now i thought they came with 235 55 16 and i need new ones of course. i had 2 of the wheels off and they have spacers on them and if you take them off they rub so are they factory or is it just the size that they have on them right now.

Re: 92 camaro fuel pump what a pain in the butt

The "performance" tires the 3rd gens came with were 245/50/16 at all 4 corners.
To get the tank out, remove the exhaust (or at least the muffler). Disconnect the fuel lines and wiring connector. With the car supported on the frame rails on jack stands, remove the lower shock bolts with a jack under the differential, carefully lower the rear axle as far as the brake lines will alow. Take the tank straps loose while supporting the tank. Remove the gas filler door and black plastic surround around the filler neck. Now take something like the thick plastic from a milk jug cut in a strip 3-4" wide and 10" long and wrap it around the filer neck and slide it down the filler neck a little. Now with someone watching the filler neck and helping to guide it, lower the tank out of the car. Ther plastic will keep the flange on the filler neck from catching on the opening it has to pass through.

be careful with the filler neck, they crack very easily!

Re: 92 camaro fuel pump what a pain in the butt

i feel your pain. when i put in my racetronics kit i had a terrible time getting the tank out and then back in and lined up right. Just be patient with it and make sure you have that axel as low as possible. I started at around 10:30 or 11 pm so i was tired which didnt help any as well as a gas tank which still had a couple gallons. a buddy would be good too to assist too. the directions in my hanes manual didnt help a bit. Follow what was posted by morley and you should be good to go.

Check the inj1 & inj2 fuses in the fuse block.
As far as injectors go...you have Multec injectors, without a doubt the worst injectors ever made and they aren't worth cleaning.
Check the net for 5-0 motorsport injectors about the cheapest injectors out there and they perform well.

If you lived close, I'd gladly take care of it. I've already done it twice before, and soon to be a third time.
