Unhappy Add me to the "cracked manifold" list.

I have to drive a POS GMC tonight while the dealer replaces my manifold. Just 600 miles left on warranty and I caught it and rushed it in. Good thing I put those 31" tires on 32K miles ago!

Even if you're not sure, get your Xterras in and have them looked at. The passenger side manifolds are failing at a very high rate and I think it's about an $800 repair job. I think we have about 5 people in PNWX now that have had theirs replaced and atleast 5 more that are suspect. Could be 10 more that have no idea that theirs is cracked!

Heads up folks!

I had my pass side manifold replaced, in addition to the pass side head gasket. Not fun. But totally covered under warranty. Tis is covered by the 5yr-60k warranty, not the 3yr-36k warranty right? I think mine will be changed once more before the 60k is up, I have a bad feeling about it.

Yep; you're good until 5 years or 60K miles. I'm at 59,400 and the service guy commented on how close I am. I suspect my manifold has been cracked for quite some time, but just recently got bad enough to make a significant amount of noise.

Next time mine goes I'm on my own, but hopefully someone will have a nice replacement by then. Crossing my fingers!

The next time it goes couldnt you go to headers instead of the manifolds? Asde from the obvious pain in the ass ALL headers are to install or seal, wouldnt that be a "semi-permanent" fix? The couldnt cost more than the stock manifolds.
Just an idea.

That's what I will probably do. Will put in cams and larger throttle plate at that time too, probably. Just depends on finances and what's available. As it is, at the rate I'm going my truck won't be paid for until it's got 140K miles on it!!! :o

Stupid question here...

How would I know if my manifold is failing?
