Sprayway for Glass

I purchased Sprayway for use on my car windows. I spray and wipe clean with a soft microfiber towel, but when I get in my car I can still see spots where I wiped.

It cleans the glass great, but I thought this stuff was supposed to be streak-free. I'm using a normal amount of product. Seems like no matter what I use to clean the glass, there are always streaks. I've heard great reviews from Sprayway and I'd like to keep using it.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to AF! I've never heard of that product, however I can recommend one that I've had good luck with. Stoner Invisible Glass, I believe is the name of it. It works great. If you don't want to try another product, try using a terry cloth towel rather than a microfiber. It's best to turn the towel frequently so you aren't applying the dirt that you've already removed. Also, this may be common knowledge, but make sure the car is parked in the shade or you'll never get rid of the streaks! Cool glass is best. Seems like the windshield and back glass are the hardest to clean, not sure why so on the back glass, but I guess because the front windshield sees more road grime (bugs, etc) it is the hardest to clean. A little elbow grease helps as well. You might try a separate towel to use after you've removed the majority of what you've sprayed on. With some products, I've also found that they work better if you let them sit on the glass for a minute before wiping dry...gives them time to 'work'. Hope that was helpful!

I've used Sprayway for years at a second job I had working in the darkroom of our local newspaper. We used it on the light tables and plate burner and never had any problems with it. That was the only brand the company had preferred after trying other brands. I've even used it on my window glass in my vehicles. Maybe if you tried newspaper to clean the glass afterwards it might get rid of the streaking. I use newspaper and it works great for me.

I, too, used Sprayway glass cleaner for the camera and platemaking equipment when I worked as a printer. Some years back I used to get it at Costco, and I still have some around the house. It's good stuff.

Since I prefer a trigger spray for the cars (especially the interior), I use Mothers as it's also safe for window tint and doesn't gas me out and get everywhere.

But most of glass cleaning is technique... work an area while the product is damp with as much effort needed to clean the crud. While it's wet, flip the towel and a light buff should take care of it.

It's much like doing a light dusting on your paint with a detailer -- finesse it.

I generally use microfiber towels, or the short-nap mitts, especially for the hard-to-reach windshield and rear windows -- you can easily use the back of your hand and flip the mitt to a fresh surface. I actually have about 4 of those mitts for glass because I realize they're too short for me to want to wash the car with them.
