Re: Speedometer dropped to zero
On the back of the instrument cluster where the speedometer gauge is located there is a screw that holds the speedometer in the plastic cluster, if you unscrew it then the speedo unit will slide out the front (with the clear plastic cover off). That screw is the ground for the speedometer.
I ran a dedicated wire from that screw to the firewall for ground. I'm going by memory here, but I think I have it correct. |

This was so helpful! I was having the same problem. I had been searching for an answer when I found your post! I tried it and it worked. Thanks again!

My speedometer drops to zero and then whole engine and electrical stops. Has done this many times, but mostly at few minutes after starting. And it is really dead. No power, no start at all. SO I disconnect the battery and then reconnect; and magically the electrical comes on again and it starts, it sputters a bit but soon I'm on the road again; until someother time it does this again.
What do you think? what to fix this?

Re: Speedometer dropped to zero
I had a somewhat similar problem at one point... the battery was getting old around then and I finally replaced it... never had the problem again. Have yours tested if it is not new.
