Rewiring my Homelink switches
I'm considering rewiring my Homelink switches on my '07 Envoy Denali. The factory config has power applied all the time (ignition on or off). I would like to rewire it so that power to the Homelink is applied only with the ignition on or Acc. As it is now, if someone gained entry to my vehicle, they could push the button, open my garage door and enter my home. I would appreciate any info, recommendations, or cautions about making this change.
I think I have figured out how to remove the overhead console. |

Re: Rewiring my Homelink switches
Consider this; the homelink system has a non-serviceable internal battery backup in case of a loss of source battery voltage. You could verify this for sure by unplugging the homelink transmitter and then operating the buttons to see if they still function. Removal of that upper console to get at the homelink transmitter requires removal of the dome lamp lenses. Underneath are two screws. With the screws removed, there are two clips up front that retain it to the body. Pull down to remove the console.

Re: Rewiring my Homelink switches
Thanks for the good info. I'll give it a try. Seems the worst that can happen (barring me breaking something) is that the internal battery would go dead requiring a re-program.
