turbo doesn't work

i took my car in to get fixed and they said the turbo doesn't work. i went home and re did some hoses and got it working. but it cuts out at 3000 rpms on 4th and 5th gear. so either i have the cut off with a turbo, or a gutless car with no turbo. How can i fix this????

Re: turbo doesn't work

Well make sure all you hoses are good and solid. It could be a sensor for it possibly but it sounds like your waste gate is stuck open or adjusted wrong also Im not real sure about this cars turbo set up but the blow off valve could be stuck.

Re: turbo doesn't work

what do you mean the turbo is not working?

there are no intake lines connected to the intake box.. just a secondary air plastic line thats on the front of the air box. the other hard line is for the evaporative emissions.

i own a 2002 1.8t and if you drive it too hard it will go into limp mode with only 4 pounds of boost. it will stay like that for a while or until i turn it on and off or just drive chill a little while.

thiss cars do not have a blow off valve. they have a bypass valve. see it has any cracks also check your intercooler for cracks
