venture,silhouette,and montana rear air shocks

i own a 98 chevy venture and a 99 olds silhouette.the problem i am facing is that the air shocks on both vehicles are gone, bleeding and running fluid.i have the auto level system on both vehicles.
the dealer wants 144 ea for ac delco shocks or 288 ea for original production shocks.
i have heard that the monroe ma824 max air shocks are a direct fit and that there is no modifications i need to do.
is this correct or have i read wrong.
ty in advance,i am new here and have already enjoyed the info i have found.

Welcome to AF!
According to rockauto.com 's website, that is the correct part number. They are $62.79 for the pair and "Includes air line, air fittings, and air fill kit where applicable." Not a bad price when compared to the dealer's prices. Rockauto also has A C Delco shocks for these vans a lot cheaper than the stealership parts department charges. www.rockauto.com

Re: venture, silhouette, and montana rear air shocks

Beware...I have a 2000 Venture and had the same leaking shocks. After I got up off the floor when I was told how much the new ones were, I went and got Gabriel's and installed them. These shocks (the Monroe's or Gabriel's) are not constructed the same as the factory shock. The ride is MUCH more harsh. Will I live with it to save $500 dollars. Darn tootin, just understand that the ride quality will suffer.

They will work although you may need anoter part to make it work, coz the aftermarket has one air valve on each shock while the original ones have 2 in one shock and one valve on the other, what you need is a kit they sell that has a splitter to make it work. If youre buying monroe you might need te AK-16 air shock adapter kit.

Thanks for the heads up on these aftermarket rear shocks. I knew it was too good to be true. I will wait a bit longer and decide if I want to give up on good ride quality and may elect to pay up for the A/C delco's and hope that they are more comfortable like the original factory shocks.
