Re: Deciding on car.. Opinions!
Did you don't mention anything about previous or future modifications to these cars, I'll assume that they're all stock.
I've not driven an 86 Trans am, but it's no secret that these cars are unreliable, slow (especially for their engine size), and just generally crap. I'm sure Trans am enthusiasts will quickly point out that any and all stock parts can be relatively cheaply swapped out for more modern, higher performance parts, making it swift and easy to work on. Barring that, however, stick with the Nissan and Acura. Between those two, I'd choose the Acura. The Nissan is fun, and handles great, no doubt. And if proper rear-drive handling is important to you, then the 240sx wins by defualt. But in a direct comparison, the Acura is just as fun, and "feels" more refined. I always found the 240's engine to be adequately punchy, but generally grumbly, shakey, and not very pleasant to rev hard. The Acura, whether in standard GS or high-revving GSR trim, is surprisingly torquey for its size, and loves to rev hard all day, with a satisfying soundtrack. The shifter is rifle-bold precise, and the handling is spirited, if not quite as balanced as the 240. Both are reliable and long-lived. I recall about 5 years ago driving an early-90's Integra GSR (with the 170 HP engine) with over 170,000 miles on it. The chassis felt generally solid, the shifter felt like new, and the engine still begged for revs, and made good speed doing so. |

Re: Deciding on car.. Opinions!
Thanks for the info!
The integra is going for about $4000 CAN (pretty much USD lol) and it's running on 200,000 The 240 is going for about $3900 CAN 262,000 Mostly stock parts for both, I will be putting my money into modding. I guess the Civic is really good for aftermarket like you all have been saying.. |
