Material.

I'm looking into buying an eclipse front bumper but it seems like there are more than 1 type of material used for bumpers. Can someone tell me what the differences between them are? or how many different types there are? (durability, price, material etc.) thank you

Re: Material.

All factory bumpers are polyurethane. Aftermarket bumpers you can get in fiberglass to.

Re: Material.

Do yourself a favor and get the urethane man. The extra up front cost wont even come close to the money you would have to spend fixing that fuckin fiberglass bumper.

Re: Material.

The polyurethane one will flex a bit if you hit something, so it dosn't completely shatter if you were to say, hit a big racoon dead on (yeah, I did it once or twice).

Re: Material.

Thx for the info guys. I've been lookin around ebay for a front stock 2gb eclipse bumper but none of them specify what material they are made from. Also what is a 'bumper cover'? it looks like a bumper to me but i don't know lol

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-99...spagenameZWDVW

am i better off avoiding ebay stores such as this? or will this work fine? thx

Re: Material.

Thats what you need. Those aren't made out of fiberglass. Its actually called a bumper cover, the bumper is the plastic brace behind it.

Re: Material.

^ I think you mean metal... or are you 2g guys' bumpers made of plastic??? 1g's just have a big ass chunk of steel. Anyway, yes, you want a bumper cover. The bumper is actually the piece that protects the car, the cover is the thing that goes over it to make it look pretty.

Re: Material.

They're actually fiberglass, and they itch like crazy if you try shave them down to fit a bodykit over it.
