After fixing 99 WindStat Power Window (Driver Side)
All of sudden, the power window on the driver's side did not work. The fuse the window motor was OK and so the door panel was removed. The voltage at the two pins connected to the motor showed no voltage when down-SWT was pressed, but did 12 Volts with up-SWT depressed. So I guessed the swich was bad. Since the passenger side is working fine, I got some idea from the passenger side switch. I did continuity check on the driver's side SWT and found that the switch was not working only when down-side was depressed.
I got some hint from this site that the switch may be just supply 12 V to the motor with different polarity. Then the switch may be easily fixed. I took apart the switch and found that some dusk can make it bad. I cleaned the contact points (three for driver side, two for the pass-side). After this the switch unit came back on business!!! Auto parts dealers may hate me??? |
