Hi my name is JR ive been lurking the threads Lol you know checking things out anyways to my point when im driving at high speeds and then stop somwhere there always seems to be smoke coming out of the side of the front left tire i thought it was the breaks but as i looked closer it was coming out from underneath maybe next to the oil pan i cant really tell because the car is lowered id just like to know what do yall think it is?

also dont know if this is the appropriate place to post my other question but i wanted to know how to actually shift in a drag race in a AT ive seen a couple posts but many people have different suggestions, I wanted to know what was the correct way, thanx

Pretty sure it's in the title...but maybe he added that after you saw it?

As for your question, does it just smoke when you break or when it's idling/if you rev it a bit while parked?

When drag racing you need to be very careful and have your whereabout with the location. With an AT myself, I turn the O/D off to start. Then when you are fully stopped, put it in low gear. If you want to launch it, rev it to about 3-4k with the brake pressed firmly (this is not good for your breaks, but it's your call) with your left foot. Then when the light turns, let off the brake quickly and floor it. Once it shifts past first, move the shifter to drive (while still going WOT) so if you have to let off the gas quickly it won't downshift. Maybe that's not the best method but it works if you do it properly.

It smokes when parked looks like it was the brakes but im pretty sure its isnt, and im sure its not leaking oil, i just had an oil change they would of told me if it was leaking..i think.

and thanx for the info on shifting ill have to try that. Im going up against a 1990 240sx standard, so i need all the info i can get on shifting rite.
