When I turn the knob/dial to indicate where I want the hot/cold air to blow, the knob/dial turns fine. But if I stop it on the "front panel" setting, the air keeps blowing in the direction of the last setting (either defrost or floor). So I can get air to blow in every direction except straight at me (onto my face/chest). Everything else works fine. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Fan Switch won't move air to front panels 96 (def & floor ok)
Similar problem on my '98 Sebring JXI Limited Conv. It seems electrical related because by pushing in the defrost button it will reset to blowing air where it is supposed to...for a while. I wonder if it has to do with the blower motor or resistor switch?
Any help out there as to how to DYI ??? |

Re: Fan Switch won't move air to front panels 96 (def & floor ok)
I pulled mine apart there is a motor on the side of the box above the gas pedal when I turn it to any position it moves except the vent I'm figuring its either the switch or the motor wish I could find a wiring diag.

Re: Fan Switch won't move air to front panels 96 (def & floor ok)
my daughters 97 convertable did the same thing. i found on another website that if you disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect, turn the AC on, and move the switch and stop for a few seconds in each position that it will let the computer relearn where the vent doors are supposed to be in relation to the switch position. it seemed to work.
