strange sound every time I brake

When I put on my brake at 20 mph or higher speeds, my car's rear end sounds like I have a flat tire. The noise that I hear is exactly the same noise you would hear if you truly has a flat tire. It doesn't do it any other time unless I brake at 20 mph or higher. I do not hear it at any other time, and my car doesn't shake at all when I hear this noise. Any solutions would be kindly appreciated.

Re: strange sound every time I brake

Check the brakes. you may have a bad rotor or drum.

Re: strange sound every time I brake

If you drive over bumps, do you hear it? Try it at slow speed and high speed while driving over a few bumps. usually, it's sudden dips in the road or a low sidewalk. If you hear the sound of a hollow metal clunking on metal, then it's your rear strut mounts. It's extremely harmless. mainly there to dampen the sound. When you break, it sounds like a flat tire (clunking a few times per second). that's because your shocks and compressing and expanding very quickly.
