sanding question
First of all, I am VERY new to modeling. I did like 4-5 in the past, but I am still a huge noob on modeling. How do you exactly make the body smooth with sanding paper? I have tried to my best effort, but the body still looks rough. Is it supposed to look rough the first time? Am I forgeting to add something? Oh and while I'm at it, another noob question...how do you spray paint evenly on ditches and corners such as those found on an enzo? I have been basically experimenting with different stuff so far with cheap $3-5 models lol PLEASE reply! THANK YOU TEAM!!!

also, I know that you are supposed to sand the body down after painting to make it better...but won't that remove some paint in the process? (personal experience)

What grits are you using?
While sanding you have to go grade by grade. If you have major orange peel then start with 1500, when that's thoroughly sanded, wash it off and go with 2000. Again when that's thoroughly sanding wash off again and either continue with higher grades or switch to compound. Washing the model off before changing grits is important, if you don't the paint that you sanded off will actually scratch the model more. The roughness you discribe is likely the way the sandpaper leaves the model. That is normal. All you have to look for when sanding is uniform smoothness. Wet sanding will make whatever grit you're sanding with smoother. Wet sand with everything above the grit of 1200. Kits like the enzo, carrera Gt are more complicated kits, requiring more experience. These cars are more easliy painted if you have an AB. Sanding WILL remove paint so go slow, and go light. All you are trying to achive is getting a smooth uniform surface. If you start to see primer or bare plastic, STOP. Repaint the area and start again. Sanding is not nessecary if you don't have orange peel. BUT, sanding the last coat with 2000 grit is a great way to make the model shine more. Tamiya's rough compound is roughly 1800-2000 grit. So, if you've finished sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper jump straight to fine & finish compounds. HTH, Steve
