vr4 and a porsche 987

So I'm heading to my cousin's house, trying to make good time, and I arrive at a red light right before the I-95 on-ramp. Now normally, just like today, I'm passing cars in the left lane and merging into the right lane ahead of everybody as I hop onto the on-ramp. This time, I was fooling with the radio and a Porsche happened to pull up next to me, unbeknownst to me. Light goes green and apparently we are racing. He launches and I bog..looking like and idiot. OK, now I'm pissed. This middle aged guy is trying to show off to his 50% plastic wife...and I'm the punk kid in the japanese import.

I take off after him, topping out first, shifting to 2nd and hitting the 360 banking on-ramp somewhere in the realm of 75/80mph. Sweet...tires are squealing, I'm feeling the Gs, and I have to let off a bit out of fear I'm gonna break lose entering the apex. I coast through the apex, the Porsche still accelerating (sick handling on it's part...I will give it that) and I get on it again in 3rd coming out of hte turn. I punch it in 3rd as we merge onto the highway, catching up to his rear bumper as I near redline.

NOW IT'S ON! I'm definitely the favorite in the straight away and he's about to find that out. I shift to fourth and pass him and put a car on him by 120. By 130ish I have another car or 2, and I keep on it up to 145 at which point he lets off, drops back and admits defeat.

I will say I was extremely impressed, but not very surprised, to find the Porsche handled that well on the banked turn..I don't think he ever let had to let off, and I was clearly outmatched there...but once we got next to each other it was all over. Nice race..it had been awhile since I'd run a Porsche.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
