Best glue for clear parts and bodies
Hi all,
Just a quick one, I am going to build the Tamiya Williams FW24, the clear body version. What would be the best glue to use, one that will survive long term. Thanks. |

Re: Best glue for clear parts and bodies
Howdy,
For clear parts I generally use two-part epoxy glue. Sets very strong and is clear, although I have a sneaking suspicion that it may weaken slightly in 40+ Celcius temperatures. But if you don't get temps that high where you are then you'll be fine. Cheers, M |

Re: Best glue for clear parts and bodies
I've used expoxy when strength is an option, e.g. windshield to a slightly warped A-pillar.
Other choices are Testor's clear cement or Watch Crystal Adhesive (I've bought mine from MicroMark) |

Re: Best glue for clear parts and bodies
Hi dingmyride,
Are you looking to glue the components to the clear body parts or are you looking to glue halves together? If it is for the halves you will want something with strength and that you can sand down to make the seam invisible. I assume you will be keeping the body unpainted to see the inside components? My experience with epoxies in the past have not let me sand out the seams, Kristal Klear is great for holding clear lenses and windshields in but there is no strength to it. Let me know if you have anymore questions. Mike |
