2001 OEM Rear Strut Part Numbers

2001 PA Base, 1SE Prestige, FE1 Soft Ride.

GM lists 2 sets of part numbers for the rear air struts on our cars:

97-03: L 22064808, R 22064809.

04-05: L 88955457, R 88955458.

Was there a design change, or did GM just change the part numbers?

I find it unlikely that GM would have changed the strut design, even slightly, on a model that had been in production virtually unchanged for 7 years so close to the end of its life.

Thank you.
