rough engine at 3200 rpm

Hello... I tried this post already, and was rejected (I think) for some reason. I'm a newbie here, and maybe didn't do it right. Anyway I'll try again.

I have a 96 Gr. Caravan, at above 3k, the engine runs rough, and I get a check engine light, OBD codes, P1391, intermittent loss of ckshft or camshft sensor, and P0353, #3 coil pri. circuit problem. Which is most likely? Coil cost is abt $65 and up, and ckshft sensor abt $35. Hate to replace if not bad. Replaced torque converter, as it was shuddering at lockup, and getting progressively worse. Engine prob. existed prior to replacement, and is still there, maybe worse now.
Any ideas? I would appreciate any help that can be offered.
Thanks

There are valid arguements for either code causing your rough engine. In any event you have to fix both codes. The components causing them can quit at anytime like when heading down the freeway at 80 mph or in that lousy neighborhood at midnight.

Inspect both sensors and their wire harnesses. If all looks good I would start with the crankshaft sensor to clear the 1391 code.

Re: rough engine at 3200 rpm

Thanks so much for your advice on my rough engine.. I went out, cleaned the connectors on the Ckshft pos. sensor, pulled it, cleaned it, and re installed it. While installing it, I noticed that the mountin bracked was slotted! Pushed the sensor all the way in, pulled it back out a couple of ticks, tightened it down, got in and started the engine. Runs Great!!! I truly appreciate you steering me in the right direction. My only expense was for a new fuel filter (which I'm sure was needed anyway, but didn't help the problem.
Your advice much appreciated!!

Fantastic. Glad to hear it was an easy fix. FYI - if you ever install a new sensor there is a thin paper cover on the tip that acts as a spacer for installation. Don't have to worry about that "tick" measurement.

If you're still seeing the 353 code and don't have a scanner disconnect the battery for a minute to clear the code. If it comes back, you still have some work to do.

Re: rough engine at 3200 rpm

Again, Thanks. I didn't know about the "adjustment" on the sensor, so I was lucky to get it close enough for it to run right. I do have a generic obd reader, and was able to clear the codes ok. Took my wife for a senic ride yesterday and everything seems normal. No codes reappeared and the van runs fine. Much appreciated!!
