Help program new transmitter 05 Ultra

Hi folks!

I am new to this forum, but not new to forums in general. I have been very fortunate to connect with some great people on forums and learned and shared a lot. Thanks for being here !

Well, here's where I'm at. I have a 2005 Park Ave. Ultra. I bought it used a few onths ago and as it's turned out, the inside of the door remote was shot.
Where the battery fits has some broken soder spots and it's just no good overall. So! I went to ebay and bought a new one. It's used ,but new to me. It was for my year and is the #2 remote and not #1. The batterys are new also.

I did a search for reprogramming and the search led me to you and this forum.

I read a couple posts about programming for another model and it seemed or sounded like it could work, ....it didn't.

I know that there are a lot of "buy it now" places to get this simple info, but I also know and trust the power of a good forum.

Can someone help me, .....please!

I only have this one remote. So, that's all I need to program.

Thanks a bunch.

Welcome to AF!
Sorry, but you will need to take it to a dealer or locksmith with the correct scan tool to program a 2005.

Re: Help program new transmitter 05 Ultra

Wow, You've gatta be kidding! With all the different codes and processes to put in keys and turn things and hold buttons... There isn't a method that I can do at home???

What could something like that cost me do you think?

I live in small town USA . The last thing I want is to get popped big bucks for something that simple.

Thanks again!

Re: Help program new transmitter 05 Ultra

Well, I guess if you had a Tech II scan tool at home you could do it yourself, if you know how to program it. If you live in a remote area, you may have to drive to the big city to find this type of service. I would make some phone calls and find someone who understands the jargon, then ask for a price. I don't think it should cost more than 75 bucks. Actually, most reputable dealers or locksmiths would think if you can afford an 05 Ultra, 100 bucks would be in your left front pocket. Beware of these folks!

Re: Help program new transmitter 05 Ultra

Well as it turns out, I called a dealership about a mile from me and they said $45 to hook it up and program it. So even though I wanted to take it out of the bag and make it work, it's not to bad.

Thanks for your advice.

Make it a great day!

Yea, cars were simpler back in the good ole days. I think all this key programming crap on the newer cars is just a conspiracy to take money from the owners! You can thank Al Gore and the "green house" gang, when you hand the dealer 45 bucks for a 5 min job!
