Question High RPM's

I just recently bought a 2004 Mazda 3i. I'm not a pro. when it comes to manuals, but i was wondering if 3000RPM at 70MPH is normal for the 3's. If not, what can I do to fix this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: High RPM's

i'm assuming that your in 5th gear.

any lower rpm and the motor would struggle to make enough torque.

Re: High RPM's

Small engine, so at highway speeds its gonna be at higher Rpm's than a V6 or bigger.
