Very slugish, engine ping 97 Malibu

Just the other night I was driving home and the car starts missing real bad at a redlight. The miss felt like I was in promod with a huge cam causing the car to shake like crazy..almost like it wants to die. When I go to accelerate it doesnt want to move. I could have it floored and slowly work up to my MPH. My 0-60 is about 3 min to say the least The car starts to make a pinging/ tapping from the motor everytime it gets slugish, kinda like the engine has no fuel and causing the motor to ping. Yesterday I drove it and no prblems at all, the pinging was gone as well. But this morning it was back. Today I am going to hook up a fuel pressure gauge and see what I get. Just wanted to see if anyone had any simular problems.
Thanks,
Chris

our 98 did the same thing a few times when the motor died we pulled it and built one for it we found that the steel line that feeds the fuel rail had been crushed, easy fix 3/8 injection hose and 2 hose clamps

Wow, do you know what crushed the fuel line?

I replaced all the plugs and wires and the car ran 90% better. It stills has a ping that come and goes with a little miss here and there. The car rides a lot better with no problems. I am going to replace the fuel filter and check the voltage on the 02's since they are 10 yrs old.

Now I just need to fix the intake leak and the AC. What else can go wrong on these things?
