Surpentine Belt - Proper installation?
99 Cherokee - 4.0 V6
with A/C... Any diagrams out there on proper belt layout? I have a Chiltons, and it shows a diffrent pattern then what I see under the hood... |

there should be one on the inside of the hood of the belt and pully system which is the correct one for your jeep, the chiltion and haynes manuals cover more than one type of engine, so go by the diagram under the hood

Most of the time you can look at the way the pulley's are laid out and determine if the routing is correct. If the pulley is smooth then the back of the belt goes across it and if it's got ridges then the front of the belt goes across it. Easiest way is drop the belt down to the bottom around the crankshaft pulley and then loop it around from there almost always you will get it right
